Altra Foundation $500 Community Service Scholarship
Each year, Altra awards up to twelve $500 scholarships to Altra members who are graduating High School Seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to community service throughout their high school careers. 2012 Scholarship winners will be announced in May 2012.

Helping you fight Identity Theft! Bring up to 100 lbs (about two large trash bags) of paper items and watch them get shredded on site for free in Confidential Records, Inc. mobile shredding truck. Paper and file folders can be shredded with no need to remove staples, rubber bands, or paper clips. (Food items, three-ring binders, plastic, or foam packing materials are not allowed).

Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement offers students the opportunity to take a core financial education curriculum and have volunteers from the business world come in and share their real world examples. This program helps establish not only good financial habits, but also allows Altra Federal Credit Union and the Altra Foundation to to get out in the community and actively support financial literacy.

2010 State Superintendent’s Business Friends of Education Award
Each year the State Superintendent of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction awards individuals and businesses who have partnered with education to provide quality education experiences that prepare students for the world of work.

2008 Governor's Financial Literacy Award

The Governor’s Financial Literacy Award recognizes excellence in promoting financial literacy among Wisconsin citizens. The evaluation of nominees is based on four criteria: innovative implementation, demonstrated measurable results, collaboration with partners and scope—either statewide or having the potential to be statewide or focused to need-based groups. Altra was nominated by State Rep. Jennifer Shilling. |

March 22, 2008 - Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton made a stop in La Crosse to promote funding for the Youth Apprentice program. |
Due to Altra's our long-standing participation and support of the Youth Apprentice program. Wisconsin Lt Governor Barbara Lawton traveled to our La Crosse office to promote the Governor's budget request to double the funding for the program. Annette O'Hern, La Crosse School District Youth Apprentice program coordinator, introduced the Lt. Governor at the press conference. She spoke about the need for job training and value of the Youth Apprentice program. She then asked Megan Rowe, a former Altra Youth Apprentice to speak. State Rep. Jennifer Shilling spoke, followed by Altra President/CEO Jerry Forsythe. |
